Tsunami Evacuation Zones and other related items...

Greetings from the Pacific Ocean!

The sign notwithstanding, we had a pleasant ride from our stop in Portland down the coast to Lincoln City, Oregon.  Although Shelly and I both agree that our trip from San Fransisco to Los Angeles was more scenic, this drive saw us climb into rain forests and drive through a number of small ocean side communities.

Cannon Beach was our first look at the Pacific Ocean!

Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach!

It was my idea to walk to the rock, the kids were obviously pleased!

What do you recognize most from this picture?

Of course, Malcolm would soon be soaked...

The van makes it official! Twice across the country...

See how brave Shelly is getting with her fear of heights?

The bugs are not so lucky...

We were psyched that our next hotel let us check in early and the kids (well, really Shelly) were excited to hear that the pool was heated to 90 degrees (the hot tub to 103). The high temperature all along the coast was in the 60s but the wind was a consistent 20mph (brrr!).

Shelly, Malcolm and Emma enjoying the pool...

Always know your evacuation route...

The view from our balcony...
We decided on seafood for dinner and had the best (and most expensive meal) at a restaurant that we were able to walk down the beach to get to.

The beer was good.  Shelly had scallops and I had salmon.

  2. It has been a lot cooler here, pretty much since the moment you guys left, and our cool evenings will likely have your pool back into the high 70s for your return! (Let me know if you guys want me to swing by the house and water stuff, btw!)
