Yosemite Day #1

Our days of sweat shirts and jeans are over. San Fransisco is behind us and 90 plus degree temperatures approach. Yosemite hits you hard and fast with unbelievable vistas (even before you actually enter the park. Our hotel is about 1/2 mile outside the gates. While Yellowstone was large and beautiful, Yosemite simply takes your breath away with its dramatic beauty. Our first day was made up of an 8 hour "Grand Tour" of the park on a large tour bus. Plus: avoid the traffic and parking hassles. Minus: no time to sit, savor or really "experience" any one location. Big plus for Shelly? Lunch at the Historic Wawona Hotel (BBQ grilled chicken sandwich with bacon and Monterrey Jack cheese).

  1. I'm so glad your Yosemite plans left the drivign to someone else to give you a break for awhile, Chris! I took a 13 hour (yes, 13 hour) roundtrip through Denali in Alaska on my vacation there, and though it was an old school bus (so not the fabric seats in the picture you posted), it was a great way to see EVERYTHING out the windows while someone else worried about the road. Your pics from Yosemite are going to make a great slide show on the big screen at your house. I'll bring the popcorn! :)
